What Happened At Our Club Meeting On Tuesday, February 14, 2017

It's ALL FUN at the El Cajon Rotary Club members and guests began our meeting at Noon on Tuesday socializing and catching up with one another...
Did anyone else notice the awesome haircut Greg was sporting at our meeting on Tuesday?  Well I did, and here's the scoop.
Greg and his son went out for haircuts over the weekend and couldn't find anyplace that was open.  Soooooooo,  he decided to let his son do it, and here is what happened...
A future Barber in action.  You are far braver than me Greg.
Alison holds up an old copy of the East County Herald and notes a picture of several El Cajon Club Rotarians doing a service project.
Charlie started the meeting off in style by taking the opportunity to auction off a few Rotary hats from his recent weekend at PETS.  THANK YOU to Joe Mackey, Ramona Bommer, and Wes Sherman for donating a combined $185 to the club.
 WAY TO GO CHARLIE!
Some very special things happened at our meeting on Tuesday.
Congratulations to Jacqueline Campbell.Bobbi Pearson presents Jacqueline with her Paul Harris Award.
It was wonderful to have Stu Scott recognize Roger Gordon for 20 years with our club.  During that time, Roger maintained attendance records and served on our club's foundation board.  WAY TO GO ROGER!
Ginger showing off her new Rotary hat.  ( Joe Mackey bought the hat and graciously presented it to Ginger).
Ginger announced that the dictionary's are in and that she, Jean, Shirley, and Susan have already put the labels in.  It was decided that the dictionarys will be delivered next Wednesday.  Anyone wishing to help needs to meet at 8:30am at the El Cajon school district offices on Main Street.  Please contact Ginger for the specifics if  you would like to help.
Ramona Bommer showing off another of the hats that were auctioned off on Tuesday.  What a great smile.

Announcements, Fines &    Happy 5"s
  • Shirley Simmons:  Shirley brought the club up to speed on Jim Minshew's recent surgery.  Jim was in surgery for 10 hours on Monday. We are all praying that Jim comes out of this with flying colors and recovers quickly.  Cheryl is by Jim's side constantly during his recovery.

  • Charlie Cole -   Charlie couldn't pass up the opportunity to point out that Jeff Davis, our Police Chief, was not wearing his Rotary badge.  Charlie took delight in issuing a fine to Jeff. Quickly thereafter, it was heard that Charlie would be receiving several parking tickets in the near future. Charlie - There is clearly a lesson here somewhere.

  • Jamie Lundy:  Jamie announced that things are moving along nicely with our RYLA initiative this year. Our club will be sponsoring 12 students from Granite Hills, Valhalla, El Cajon Valley, and Mountain Empire High Schools.

  • Wes Sherman:  Wes announced our upcoming club Gala.  The title will be "El Cajun Fest".  It will be held at the El Cajon Elks Lodge on Saturday, June 3rd from 4:00pm - 8:00pm.  The club is strongly encouraging participation by family's and children.  Please contact one of the club members on the gala committee to find out how you can help with donations, gift cards, sponsorship's, and auction items.  ALL ARE NEEDED

  • Charlie Cole - Charlie took a moment to recognize two of our club members for going way above and beyond what club members typically do for our club.

Congratulations to Alison Cummings and Stu Scott for all that you do for our club
Alison Cummings being recognized by Charlie during our meeting on Tuesday.
Stu Scott being recognized by Charlie at our meeting on Tuesday!
Thank you to Roger Gordon for the pledge, Sean Bradford for the prayer, Dave Waters for the 4-Way Test, and Shirley Simmons for leading us in the song this week.
Only ONE MARBLE LEFT THIS WEEK.  And The Winning Ticket Goes To....
Amazingly, Humbert Cabrera won this week, but left the meeting early and couldn't relish in the moment.  Humbert won the largest jackpot in memory at $398. Congratulations Humbert!
Charlie trying to call Humbert to let him know of his good fortune.  And of course, our very own Kristine Costa couldn't pass up the opportunity for a quick photo bomb.
Welcome
