A "ROTARY Clock" for El Cajon
At our board meeting held on January 17, 2017, our board voted to begin fundraising for a "Rotary Clock". The purpose is to provide a gift from our club to the City of El Cajon that will remind our citizens every day of the good work Rotary does for our community.
Our next "Thirsty Thursday" will take place at 5:30pm on Thursday, February 2nd, at The Junction Steakhouse restaurant on Jamacha in El Cajon. Everyone is welcome!

Dr. Phil Pryde will join us to give us an overview of Russia, Ukraine, and Croatia. Much has occurred in this region of the world of late. You don't want to miss this meeting. INVITE YOUR FRIENDS FOR A GREAT MEETING!

How sweet it is to have Lynn McDougal join us today with Tim. Two generations of McDougals! Lynn is a Past Club President of our club and served the City of El Cajon for many years as as the City Attorney. Welcome home Lynn!

Today's Speaker
Kevin Acee, Union Tribune sportswriter, provided the group with a fantastic presentation today.
As might be expected, Kevin provided a great behind-the-scenes look at what went on with the Chargers recent decision to move to wherever. He also provided some good information about the potential uses for the current stadium site. A great Q&A session followed with much talk about the SDSU Aztecs and a joint use stadium with an MLS team.
Kevin was very open about asking for input from San Diego sports fans about what they want to read and hear about now that the Chargers are not going to be the sports focus of San Diego. The big question of the day - Where do we go from here?

Debra Emerson - WAY TO GO DEBRA! Debra missed our meeting last week for a very good reason. She was the speaker at the La Jolla Rotary Club last week!
Cheryl Minshew- Cheryl is very happy that she has a lake again. In fact, she's a little worried that it might turn into and ocean.
Cheryl also announced that we are working on RYLA and have 12-15 students lining up for the event.

Tim McDougal - Tim is happy to have survived the massive snow storm up in Mammoth this past week and happy to have made it home. He also introduced his father, Lynn, who really needs no introduction to our club

There were only three marbles left and the black proved to be elusive and is still there. The current jackpot is $306 and that will likely increase next week with only 2 marbles left. GOOD LUCK!
