Thanks to your participation, the spirit of "service above self" is stronger every day!
Our Rotarians at Work day and 1000 smiles trip to Mexico were a success.
During our previous meeting...
Dick E. started us off by celebrating his 85th birthday with a contribution to the general fund. Marvin L continued the contributions by thanking Stu for his efforts on the benches and for opening his home for the Rotary at work Day. Welcome back to Marvin and his lovely wife. Elmer H gave the general fund a contribution for his anniversary. Elmer also presented his "who am I". He is a great addition to our El Cajon Rotary Club. The happy Fives started with Ellie making us all aware of Roger's first place win car racing. Ramona filled us in regarding her trip to Bangkok and Hong Kong. Welcome back Ramona! Roger H reminded us of the Lions Tigers and Bears Fundraiser. Monica Reminded us that America on Main Street is coming to El Cajon http://elcajonrotary.org/Event/eacd76aa-7504-4a04-a9af-bef8ff1cdb6d. Cathy proved a happy five for her brother-in-law's birthday. Roger G was happy for his retirement! Erick Was happy his wife was in attendance and that two of his son's would be graduating from college this month. Max was elated regarding the Padres and some free Padre tickets. Humbert was happy that his daughter, Ariel, is graduating from USD this month. Jim S was happy for his new car and for his daughters retirement. Terry was happy that the Salvation Army Golf Tournament was a successful kick-off toward raising the necessary funds for a new food bank in El Cajon. He was also happy for the 1000 smiles trip and helping all the children. He was saddened by the loss of his pet, "Buttercup".
Our very own Rotarian Elmer Heap "talked trash" to the group. He provided us with a wonderful presentation and video on the universe of waste management. In a riveting and fun presentation, he explained the importance of recycling. He was also able to educate us on the vision and the tasks that need to be tackled in the future of waste management. The group had many questions. They were addressed and we could have spent that entire day with Elmer.
As a reminder, Cheryl M has graciously taking the ROTARYOWL along with her on her travels. Please follow the owl on Intstagram and see where she is heading next. Wherever the RotaryOwl goes she spreads the word of Rotary! #ELCAJONROTARY #ROTARYOWL.
Erick reminded us to bring items in for the Gala on June 27th.
Thank you to our guests who came for a visit. Please remember to bring a guest to the next meeting. Our membership is increasing every month, thanks to all your efforts. There was no winner of the marbles. There are only three marbles left and the pot is getting quite large. See you next week.

After his visit with Youngblood, Germ strode between mountains of empty bottles and cans at Chattanooga’s John F. Germ Recycling Center at Orange Grove, which he designed, before he drove to a construction site and popped a cork to dedicate a Miracle League field where special...
