Club members and guests began our meeting at Noon on Tuesday socializing and catching up with one another...
Tamara and Cheryl planning to show an AWESOME video we viewed of the "behind the scenes" activity as Cajon Valley School District returned from Summer break. Check it out. Here is the link http://youtu.be/lvbK33F_HE0
Only smiling faces at the El Cajon Rotary Club!
What an awesome group of officers! We felt pretty safe at our meeting last week as our El Cajon Police Department showed up in force.
Best Part of The Meeting...
Our wonderful President, Cheryl Minshew, made it a point to open the meeting with an announcement that our club is strongly considering fining anyone who's cell phone rings during a meeting.
Not more than a minute later, we all began to hear a telephone ring coming from behind the podium that Cheryl stood at. Of course, it was her cell phone! The crank caller was none other than our own Humbert Cabrera who took to opportunity to call her cell phone right after Cheryl made the announcement! Now about that fine...Change
Wait. We'll start the fines next week.
Our Speakers
Officers Josh Pittsley and Kevin Reilly showing a video that looked a lot like a NASCAR race.
What a great presentation this week from a couple of very knowledgeable officers.
Police Chief Jeff Davis introduced our speakers, officers JOSH PITTSLEY and KEVIN REILLY, with the El Cajon Police Departments traffic team. Officer Pittsley is a "hit & run" investigator, accident reconstruction specialist, and OFFICER OF THE YEAR with the El Cajon Police Department. Officer Reilly is a motor officer with the department and politely let Josh take most of the spotlight. Don't get it wrong, officer Reilly really knows his stuff and did a stellar job in answering many great questions.
Larry staying on the good side of our men in blue. Just a little hint Larry; It's not going to work.
Happy 5"s
Bobbi Pearson - Bobbi put in a great word for the El Cajon Elks Lodge upcoming golf tournament on October 18th at Cottonwood Golf Club.
Cheryl Minshew - Wow! Does Cheryl have a busy week ahead. She and her husband are hosting the "Minshew" family reunion at their home in Alpine and expecting over 100 folks to attend. Where do you find the energy Cheryl?
Vince Bacino - What a proud grandfather Vince is. He shared with us that his grandson, John Joe, will be starting at USF this month. Congratulations Vince.
Ellie Durbin - It was a delightful surprise to see Ellie at our meeting on Tuesday. Ellie let us know this will be her last "official" meeting with the club, but we look forward to her coming back often.
David Johnston - David shared some information about our budget for the coming year and noted that our credit card fees are running significantly higher than expected. DAVID ENCOURAGED EVERYONE TO PAY THEIR BILLS WITH A CHECK IF POSSIBLE. This will help keep our credit card charges down.Change
Ramona Bommer was the holder of the winning ticket this week. No black marble. Good luck to our winner next week!
