Rotary’s top priority continues to be the eradication of Polio worldwide.  This year, there have been 17 cases of Wild Poliovirus – 9 in Afghanistan and 8 in Pakistan.   Eradicating a disease is a big job and we need your help to advocate, educate, and fundraise.

This is an important topic. There is information and resources available for you at www.endpolionow.org, and the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (www.polioeradication.org) provides detailed information on how Rotary and its partners work together to eradicate Polio.

The GPEI has published a new technical brief; Building a Climate-Resilient Polio-Free World, which highlights the intersection of the climate crisis and polio eradication, offering valuable insights into how we can both deliver a polio-free world and ensure a climate-resilient future.

Our Club has made a commitment to contributing $1200 towards the Polio Plus campaign.  Please also consider making your own contribution to PolioPlus by donating to the Rotary international Foundation at www.endpolionow.org. If you make an annual commitment of $100 or more until Polio is eradicated, you qualify to become a member of our District 5340 PolioPlus Society (Rotary District 5340PPSociety Form.pdf) or Rotary’s KennelKlub  (rotaryppskennelklub.org).

Rotarians’ contributions to PolioPlus help fund planning by technical experts, large-scale communication efforts to make people aware of the benefits of vaccinations, and support for volunteers who go door to door.
